disabling automatic underclock?

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
I have an HD6870 that underclocks itself when its idling to save power. In msi afterburner the core clock goes down to 300mhz when im not doing anything on the computer. The problem is when i start using google sketchup, the drivers perceive it as a 2D application and whenever i try to rotate my model sketchup freezes and crashes.

So is there a way to force the card to always stay at its default clocks?

As far as I know there's no way to disable power saving during 2D application use.

UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode = 2

The value of 2 specifically disables powerplay.

I run my 6950 at 400/625 idle/desktop. This is more than enough to play old games at 1000fps and 1080p blurays, which makes me wonder why 450/1250 is forced when using more than one display.
