Crossfire Noob, Help Please

Thread Starter
This is a continuation of another thread I have and I appreciate all the help I got but I don't want to keep bugging the same two guy's.

The short story:

I had a GTX 285 1GB it died.

Went to store bought Diamond Radeon 6870 XOC.

Got back home installed card got on net and now have buyers remorse.

Question:

Should I get a 6970 and be done.

OR

Get another 6870 and crossfire?

All help will be +Rep'd

***EDIT***

Okay I went and got another Diamond 6870 XOC so now I need to CF it with the other.

I've never done it so is it as simple as connect it with the strap and I'm good or is there some configuration I should do first?

Meaning should I uninstall the drivers of the first one or anything like that?

I appreciate any and all help.

Why do you have buyers remorse? The 6870 is a very good card! If you don't want it anymore I'll buy it for 10% less than what you paid biggrin.gif

Just kidding, but seriously I think you should get another 6870 and crossfire it.

The 6990 is nice because it is new, but it is NOT worth that cost IMO unless you have money to blow, budget wise it isn't practical.

Honestly I think two 6870's in crossfire would probably be stronger than a 6990 and probably cost about the same or less.

Nope I mean keep the 6870 you bought and get a second for xfire.

Yes, best choice is for a second HD6870.

Your PSU is strong enough for CF smile.gif.

With 2 monitors atleast a 6950 should have been bought if u are gaming, if your not gaming then I dont see a problem with 1 6870.

He got now one HD6870. So buying a second HD6870 would be cheaper. And running HD6870 in CF, is fast enough for the games for now. Your Antec 850 PSU is strong enough and can handle both cards easy.

Just run 6870 in CF. It's easier than having to resell or return your 6870 you bought.
