EVO 3D is honestly looking to be a rather monster phone. Makes me wonder whats going to be in store when I have my upgrade in another year.

Why?

As for locked HTC phones, they are barely locked. It's a step up from the old locking method, but the first phone to use it was cracked in 48 hours (THunderbolt)

updates sorta
took us some time to get official froyo even yes I know leaked froyo is all over the place

I guess i'll see Q3 this year, when i'll treat myself to a new phone before my birthday again

I'd blame the carriers there. Heck, samsung was the first to have a leaked build of gingerbread, and it's mostly finished. But the US carriers don't seem to want to update. I hope whatever deals they finally agreed on to get the froyo update out will apply to gingerbread, and make that a little faster.
