I'm pretty sure EA owns a big chunk of the IP, and besides, if Crytek had full control of it, what are they going to do if EA doesn't like their decision and they're left without a publisher?

you know... i never thought about that...

but if EA put a ton of money into Crytek for this game... they would still control the publishing schedule...

but that is a fair point...

however, when you enter into a deal, you have to honor it, especially with a publisher, since they own the publishing rights.

Crysis 2 in fact does NOT use a static light map, it use dynamic lighting and specular lighting.

Phaedrus2129, you're a good user.
And I've noticed you seriously hate Crysis 2 (seen a lot of your posts around OCN).

Honestly, this type of troll thread from you isn't necessary.

You're a better user than that!

It is sad to see games that oiginated from PC's to move on to Consoles. I guess there are much more fanboys and little kids playing their xbox 360's and PS3's rather than investing in a fine gaming rig. It does nake sense but god-dammit can they at least make a PC port to consoles rather than a console port to PC?

Indeed sad, but thats marketing. Also, imagine if they tried to port original crysis to consoles - poor xbox 360 would choke with its 48 unified shader gpu, same as ps3 with its geforce 7xxx series videochip.

The developers owe something to PC gaming community, if it were not for us they would not have anywhere near as much of the money they made from Crysis 2 as they did. Instead they throw us this ported garbage with worse graphics than the original, made 3 or 4 years ago. If anyone is arrogant, it's the developers.

"Investing" is a strong word, because it implies a hope to turn a profit, whereas when you buy the parts and put it all together, what you are REALLY saying is "I'd like half of this money to disappear in a few years time."

it is still the feeling that you are "owed" something that implies arrogance. or maybe in this case its entitlement.

I'm sorry that is how I feel about it.

The demo proved it was going to be crap to many people, yet many people still bought the actual game and found that nothing was different from the demo.

now people feel betrayed because they bought a game that doesn't live up to its predecessor because it was designed to be as easy to play on low-middle end equipment (consoles) But they were warned when the demo came out just what the game was going to be like.
