Radiator Fans Cold Air In or Hot Air Out? - Page 2

If you have high velocity fans, it should still work pushing hot case air thru the rad. People do intake on the rad so that cold outside air hits the rad first, but if your fans are good enough you should be able to do exhaust method. Granted, this usually means using loud fans...

Outward. I put a thermostat on one of my exhaust ports and im getting 28C under heavy cpu use. I wouldnt want to be blowing that in considering ambient is 20C

Unless he actually has fan holes on the bottom then just push the hot air out the bottom, same as right? I've got mine on the top of the case with fans pulling hot air through the rad and out the top.

depends, if your looking for better cpu temps have them as intake if you want better overall temps have them as exhaust, i will have mine as intake once i get my kit

What if you have your entire rig water cooled? Would pushing the hot air into the case have a larger effect on temps than using the warmer air in the case to cool the water that is then cooling the entire computer. I think I worded that really badly but someone might get it.

Yeah I understand you. If your entire PC is water cooled you just want the ambients as cool as possible I would imagine. I would always push air out when available. Because the heat coming from the rad's will be pretty hot on a system of water cooling size. Once that air goes through the rad it's no longer fresh cool air, it's just hot air.

Sure it dropped 5c on my CPU, but my 1090t is at it's limit @ 4.1ghz stable. At full load it hovers around 50-52c. 5c less on the CPU wouldn't do anything. It all depends on what you are running. If you can squeeze out more mhz from your CPU but you're at a heat wall then i can see it as beneficial. I couldn't so i would rather have the rest of my case cooler like my SLI cards and NB/SB.

You gotta try it both ways and see what the difference is, sure it's a lot of work...that's why we do this...it's fun
