GTX590 + 280 Physx setup question

Ok so that's 3 threads in one day but they are really different matters that need individual attention

I installed only the 267.85 drivers that were released specifically for the 590. But windows update keeps telling me that there's a driver update for my 280. And when I check device manager this is the situation:

Shall I also install 266.58 for the GTX 280 or just leave it as is and tell windows update to bugger off?

Is it even worth having the GTX 280 for PhysX?

I saw a review that had the GTX 590 handle Mafia 2 on 2D sorround (Big resolution) with PhysX without hicups

I sold my GTX 260 for $80. Should be able to get $80-$100 out of a GTX 280 I would imagine.

To me, $80 is a reasonable chunk of change and well worth the effort. I would reconsider.

I have a GTX 465 as my PhysX but it also powers 2 monitors since I use a PLP setup 20/30/20 setup. I have the room and my psu can handle everything and the temps are just fine.

As Windows Device Manager does not give the GTX280 a Yellow Exclamation Mark, I think it is still recognized even though you only have GTX590-specific 267.85 installed.

So, I would not suggest forcing the driver 266.58 onto the GTX280, for the time being.

To confirm that the GTX280 is really working properly as a dedicated Physx card, run the free Mafia II Demo benchmark:-
a. Set the Physx to High within the benchmark
b. Run the benchmark twice. 1st time with Physx set to GTX590 and 2nd time with Physx set to GTX280 from the NVCP. See what kind of improvement it has. I do expect you will see an improvement. Improvement might not be big as the driver issue though.

(Check the usage of the GTX280 during the test to make sure it is being actually used. I expect the usage will be between 60-80%.)

Kindly report the numbers to this thread: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/9143...ng-thread.html

If the GTX280 is not being used as a dedicated Physx card, then you might either:-
a. wait for a new driver that supports both the GTX590 and the GTX280, or
b. force a driver onto the GTX280. Test with the Mafia II Demo benchmark afterward
