Should I get a Noctua NH-D14? - Page 2

I got the Noctua NH-D14 and love it, but getting a good air cooler is just another step you end up taking before you go water. If you want to save yourself a step and some money, just get a RX360 kit ($189) and pass the air cooler. I wish I had.

It's number fifteen in the second chart: YL D12SH x 2 - 37.5dBA, 50.5c.

Thread Starter
Alright guys thanks for the suggestions and everything. I have finally made a decision. I am going to be splurging on a water cooling setup and take the plunge (no pun intended)! I will start off with the XSPC Rasa 750 RS240. I have made a thread about it here: http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...ling-xspc.html

I'd stick to air, but up to you. Water is loud compared to a good air setup. Chances are you've got your h50 installed incorrectly / not in an optimal configuration / possible improper application of Thermal Paste.

I love the d14. You see it and the previously mentioned trade spots among number 1 back and fourth - basically what it comes down to - pick anything in the top 5 or 10 and you'll be happy - AND beat your 'all in one watercooling' setup - While doing it quieter.

One thing that's not needed as much with an h50 is case cooling / ventillation. The h50 can pull in pure cold air from outside the box. you can orient your fans to do that same sort of thing for your heatsink of choice.

Water is nice looking - I've always wanted to do a water system just for the hell of it - maybe one day I will - but for now - noise is a huge concern of mine - I don't need fans pulling air through a restrictive radiator.
