Really old modem, is it time to move on? - Page 2

I'd check for a docsis 3 modem and you should upgrade ASAP, that modem is crap for many reasons. It is the fact that it doesn't support higher then docsis 2. The way cable bandwidth is distributed is via QoS and the config on a modem (the service you pay for)
but if your on a 5100 - 4200 - 4100 then you'll be getting the short end of the bandwidth regardless of your config on the modem.

Do a speed test now and jot down your signal quality and I bet the new modem will have a bit of better signal and much much better speeds

You won't be sorry with that one! Got mine a few months ago and my old modem was from 2001. What a difference it makes.
