BFBC2 killer bloom

Thread Starter
I just recently got this game and noticed that it had killer bloom to where the point it just ruins the game especially in the desert map. Is there an option to take the bloom off or lower it?

It fixes for me simply by lowering the brightness from its default value down until it's comfortable for my eyes.

You can turn Bloom off in your My Documents BFBC2 folder under game settings, set to false. Note if you make any graphics changes in the in game option menu afterwards it will likely reset Bloom to true in my Documents folder.

You can turn it off in the game settings as people have said, but I've also heard that the newer DX versions are darker, so if you have a DX11 card, try putting it on DX11 and seeing if it runs nicely.

How do I put it on dx11 is there an option? I have dx11 installed already.

so if you turn off Bloom, you can see across the desert map with the boat divided in two in the middle of the map without beeing blended by the "sunlight" ?

Set "dxversion" to auto. If you have never changed it, it should be running dx11 already. I use DX9. I was running dx11 then switched it over and get much more FPS and the game is much smoother than with dx11.

What does changing the RenderAheadLimit to 0 actually do?

Actually I don't have issues with the game lagging at all just that half the time I can't see anything with the crazy bloom and to top it off there are effects in the desert map where sand is constantly blowing in my face.

I think it limits how far (distance) that the game renders in front of you (graphics-wise). So increasing the limit probably makes it harder to see farther but may increase performance.
