There's ways to quiet your fans and your pumps, etc. However, if you're overclocking you really want your fans/pumps/whatever it may be to be at full blast to assure maximum cooling performance.

OK. To get my CPU back to 3.4ghz what settings do I change in the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe BIOS. When I turn off Turbo EV it still overclocks it.

Hit F10 while in the BIOS and there should be an option to load Optimized Defaults. Do that and restart. If that doesn't fix it we'll just clear the CMOS.

If you go with a air cooler like the Noctua DH-14 or Silverarrow, make sure to check for Ram clearance before you purchase the cooler

It resets to 4.429 Ghz when I click on optimized defaults. What are these settings from? Is this stock from ASUS?

Check your mobo for any switches, you should be able to physically turn off auto overclocking.
