So, after all of the bashing, I have decided to try Crysis 2... - Page 6

I went ahead and played it as well being someone who was pissed there was no dx11. I liked it a lot and thought it looked pretty darn good! Its definitely worth playing even if it does not have dx11

My #1 gripe for Crysis 2 before actually playing it was the lack of DX11, or even DX10 support. However, when I actually loaded up the game and started playing it, I realized that I almost missed out on a great game for nothing.

The AI is better than Crysis AI, at least they try to melee you, take cover and flank compared to Korean AI. Crysis had more linearity than many realize especially when it came to being in the alien ship, ice levels and the last ship. It's only in the jungle that there was less linearity. Correction, not the game you wanted it to be

BTW, did you even read my post:
"That lie you speak of is subjective as well. I don't believe they lied because the pc seems to have a superior product and the game plays as well as I had hoped. You on the other hand, believe they did, hey, more power to you, you dislike it, cool. It's also cool if you don't want to give them your hard earned cash, no one can force you but you won't be changing any opinions here "
I'm not trying to change opinions, I've said if you like the game fine, have fun. I've also said I'll buy it when its 15 bucks or less. I do believe they lied to us because they said our version would be different, and not necessarily just marginally so. Crysis 1 may have linear parts, but the entire game wasn't linear. You cant possibly use the Carrier level as an example of linearity. That level was linear on purpose since the ship was under attack and you had to get to the flight deck. The alien ship I agree with, it was pretty linear. Ice levels, meh, hit and miss.

Also, why does it fall to the consumer to play more than an hour of a game to realize if they're going to like it? If the game doesn't pull me in in the first hour or two, why should I force myself to play more, on the off chance it gets better later?

Regardless, you enjoy the game, I find it to be a major disappointment that won't be getting $60 from me. $15 or less sure.

Because it's a small part of the game. Crysis 2 doesn't really start cooking until the later levels. Trust me, it gets a LOT better!

Who cares if they lied? People are free to change their minds and go against their word. And even if they knew the facts from the start who cares? Company's lie all the time to get you to buy their product. Politicians lie. Your parents lie. It makes me question how much life experience you have to become so offended at this harmless lie(if indeed Crytek did lie, I don't know).

You did not buy it so you did not lose anything. And stop saying that Crytek let down their PC fanbase, I am part of that fanbase along with many others on this forum, and as you can see the majority of people that bought the game are enjoying it.
You're going to bring life experience into this? Really? I'm 25, currently in college pursuing a degree in Physics, after serving in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, aka combat medic for the Marines.

What does my life experience have to do with being upset that a company lied? Companies are free to lie all they want, and I'm free to get upset about it. No lie is harmless, you're naive if you truly believe that.

I am considering buying this game but do guys think my 4870 512mb could play this reasonably at 1080p? I flashed a voltage modified bios to get the absolute best OC. I was playing crysis 1 and I felt it was barely chugging along, lol. What do you guys think? Time for an upgrade?

Of course, for me, the game is even better because I'm playing it in Nvidia Surround (2D), so, it's almost like I'm there in the game. Add to that the 3D headphones sound system (HT|Omega Claro Halo sound card + Sennheiser HD555 headphones), and we've got ourselves a truly epic gaming experience!

Yes, you can get a solid upgrade for the MSRP of your 4870: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...90,2879-4.html

Well, I am embarrassed to announce that after reading several reviews from members on this forum that the game is fun and worth checking out, I will shell out the $60 for Crytek and hope for a better tomorrow.

I'm a big fan of MW2 (on the PC, of course), and people keep referencing CoD when they talk about the gameplay of Crysis 2. Besides, I have a kick-rump rig that I've pretty much been building to play Crysis 2 on Nvidia Surround @ 5760 x 1200, so I might as well fire up Crysis 2 since I'll be able to max it out, anyway!

Console and PC gamers rejoice, Crytek knew exactly what they were doing with this one.

Update: 4.03.2011, my review:
Dunno why people hate Crysis 2. If graphics are your problem, Crysis 2 is the best-looking DX9 game that I have seen. If Crytek didn't tell us that it was DX9, I could honestly think that it was DX10.

I haven't played the multiplayer yet, but the Campaign is a lot of fun. There's a great mix of Metal Gear Solid in there! You can stealth around and use stealth kills to eliminate enemies.

As far as glitches go, a few graphical glitches here and there, however, I'm running a 'high-maintenance' setup with three GTX 480s in 3-Way SLI and Nvidia Surround (2D) at 5760 x 1200 (6000 x 1200 with bezel management), so, glitches are to be expected.

All-in-all, this is a GREAT-looking game! One of the best that I've seen, including recent DX11 titles. The gameplay is fun, and the storyline really drives you to get to that next checkpoint! I recommend this game to any action/shooter gamer!

Pros:
-Atmosphere
-Graphics
-Gameplay
-Story
-Music
-Interaction with the environment

Cons:
-A few glitches that a patch or two can fix

UrbanSmooth's Overall Review Score: 9/10!

THIS GAME IS AN URBANSMOOTH-APPROVED EXPERIENCE!
