I don't have any micro-stuttering with 6990+6970. But I'm using that set-up with an i7 2600K at 5.1. So no bottle-neck here.

And please, all the ''bionic-eyes'' preaching the gospel aganst the micro-stuttering myth, it's not the holy church of the anti-micro-stuttering preachers here. It's NOT helping the OP at all.

So go preach somewhere else. Please. We know you have bionic eyes and blah blah blah. But there is countless users on OCN using SLI/Crossfire set-ups and really happy with it. God was bad with us, and didn't gave us enhanced laser-driven gold vision.

It's like vultures circling a stinking and rotten dead rat when they see a thread like this. Sigh
Agreed .

I remember when I first went from HD5970 to x2 HD6970, I had to do a clean install of Windows 7 as I had performance issues, I totally forgot to mention that, my bad

Yeah i run Crysis warhead at 6018x1080 on enthusiast settings, my average frame rate is about 35fps but it doesnt go below 25fps which i can tolerate because it looks badass at that setting/res lol.

my pair of 6970's are a bit faster but as mentioned before i think the biggest difference is the cpu, my i7 is at 4.2

Your setup is definitely badass, except for Crysis 1, I am sure you can max out at +60fps any other game

A pair of 6970's are a bunch of beasts

Yup, I've already done a clean windows install.

I haven't been able to OC it to 4GHz, but I can get it too 3.7GHz stable. No difference in performance at all. It also doesn't make sense that I was able to get Crysis 2 working so well. You cannot tell me that it is "such an optmized game". I have faith that this is not the first time AMD has released hardware without proper driver support. Also doesn't help that, as I mentioned before, I talked to another user who has an i7 950 @ 4.2 GHz. He was having the same issue, so was his CPU at fault too?

Either way, my time has ran out. I won't be at my computer for about a week. I'm doing some last minute emails to AMD support, as they are asking me to run a DxDiag and some report tool for them.

Again, thanks for the help, but all my threads seem to have turn into "anti multi-GPU" vs "it works me, it should for you." Thanks again.

mine stutters as well with crysis 2. I have fraps on mine goes down from 60 to 55-57. stutters every 3-4 seconds and it's driving me crazy. stuttering goes away if I turn off v-sync but screen tearing is even more annoying than the stuttering. my brother says it's fine lol. I'm one of those overly sensitive one's

For me, I just changed the multiplier and the CPU voltage. Although, I suggest you get a better cooler like a Corsair H70 or custom water loop before doing this. Under load with the H70 my max temp is 51C (with the stock fans, get some Gentle Typhoons for a little lower temps). If you go past 55C, you'll start to see issues. At 64C, it shuts itself down.

If you get the H70 and 2 Gentle Typhoon AP-15s, you *should* be able to overclock to 4.1GHz like me, or possibly 4.2GHz. With a custom water loop, should be possible to push to 4.4Ghz. But yes, the 1100T at stock is indeed a bottleneck. 4.0GHz is the minimum when gaming, in my opinion. Also make sure you're using the 11.4 preview drivers.
