Dragon Age Problem

Thread Starter
I recently got a new 5870. I have Dragon Age Origins on steam.

I have twice now randomly gotten crashes. Also in black or dark textures sometimes there are tiny white specks. Artifacts?

My reason for asking is because I have installed every texture mod and graphics mod I found on that dragonnexus site. All the JB3 texture mods to be exact. Could this be causing the random crashes and specks in the textures?

I can barely notice them to be honest and the crashes are not frequent so I really just want to make sure it is not my video card.

Crashes shouldn't be caused by texture mods, however the white specks could well be artifacting. Without seeing it it's hard to say. Try lowering your clocks to default and see if you still get crashes, that should rule out artifacting (unless your card is dieing and artifacting at stock clocks).

What drivers are you running?

Update to latest drivers if you haven't already. Does it also happen in other games? As eggs2see said, use stock clocks and try.

It only started happening recently. The card is brand new and is running at stock speeds. I have not seen it happen in any other game yet. I am using 11.2 driver.

I had recently changed my overclock from 2600mhz NB to 2800. It passed a couple runs of memtest and6 hours of prime blend.

The white specks I only notice in forest areas, when I googled it I found others experiencing the same. Its probably just the game.

If you don't notice anything else wrong with the card, it's probably just the game, yes.

Run MSI Kombustor to check if you still get artifacts.

It was my overclock I think. Just finished about 3 hours of playing after lowering my NB frequency and no crashes. Even Windows feels a bit better.
The artifacts are just the game.
Cheers
