Macbook Pro 15 Discount

Does anyone know how Chris Pirillo get a discount from Apple or how to get a discount from him (for the UK) because in some of his videos he gives away Apple vouchers. The price of the Macbook that I need cost £1,629.00 (which is £1629 more than I actually want to pay but no one gets a free lunch lol). The reason why I need a Mac is because in college I develop websites, make logos with graphic software and next year I will be doing video editing and my part time job is doing 3D CAD drawing and at the moment I don't have a computer that can run the program I need so I have to use my employers computer and both he and I would prefer if I do it from home because that way I don't have to spend 2 hours a day getting to his house and he doesn't have to wait for me to get there as he spends most of his time going to peoples houses getting measurements for the 3D CAD (I have to take a bus to the center of a town at rush hour and you can imagine the traffic). The other reason I want a Macbook is because I like the way that they are made, things like the screen hinge, its made out of solid aluminum, the battery life is a lot longer than other laptops the same size and power, the track pad and basically all of the hardware and i really like Mac OS X.

Um what? The macs are weaker than things in the price range in "power". The battery life is because they jam a higher WHr battery in the thing.

Honestly, you can find something more powerful for the same price. You are paying for appearances and that battery with a mac.

But I have no idea what you're asking about on the voucher thing. The only time I've seen "discounts" have been through a university email. And at most it shaved $100 off. I've gotten steeper discounts through dell.

I'd recommend looking into alternatives if you can't afford the mac. There's more than just OSX and Windows you know.

Its not that I cant afford one it just that im tight and I dont like spending my money lol btw the programs that i need are only on Mac and Windows and I prefer Mac because there is a lot less viruses on Mac (btw I have tried linux on my old laptop and I don't like it) and i want to pay for the appearance and battery life lol that is why I stopped buying computers that aren't Macs, its the same story with me for cars and other things, like for instance most sensible people would buy a BMW or Mercedes and I would buy an Alfa because of the way that they look and feel. (even though BMW and Mercedes are better mechanically)

EDIT: go on youtube and type in lockergnome and watch some of his videos (I can't remember which of his videos he gives out the vouchers) and I think he is sponsored by Apple because just about every computer related thing he has is made by Apple

I couldn't find anything. Sorry. But if you're tight on money you have to ask yourself? Is it worth it starving because you're fixated on filet mignon and refuse to enjoy a Tbone steak? (Terrible analogy but I'm hungry)

But what programs are you talking about? How long ago did you try Linux along with what distro? Things may have changed a lot and there may be free alternatives to consider.

Also, you need to know that viruses aren't the thing to worry about; it's hacks and macs are getting those now because of their inherent weaknesses. Everything has them.

And, for whatever it’s worth, I’ve yet to hear from anybody at Apple in respect to marketing, sponsorship, endorsement, support – or otherwise.
From his website. He gets sponsored by a ton of other people though, including many mac developers, so that might be where he's getting it from. I wouldnt waste your time pursuing a voucher or hoping to get an amazing price on a macbook.

And for 1600, you can buy a pc laptop that will destroy a macbook and have like a 5 year warranty. So I'd rethink the whole macbook idea.

Ah I see how he gets the discounts then and I know I can get a PC laptop that will destroy a Macbook its just that I want it for the look and feel of it + there is a law in the EU where if you buy any new electronic device wether its a 80 inch 3D TV or a pocket calculator if it stops working because of wear and tear within 5 years the company where you bought it from has to fix it or replace it (or it could be 3 years i can't remember) and anyway its not how long it lasts because I normally replace my electronics every year or so anyway (apart from my PS3)

I won't be starving or anything lol for 2 reasons my dad can get the money in a week and he wants the laptop I got now and I want a new one and he will be paying it off in installments, and the programs that I use is google sketch up 8 Flash Dreamweaver (btw i already checked google sketch up 8 is only on Mac and Windows) and a load of other programs that I can't be bothered to find out now lol and the last time I used linux was about a week ago in college I can't remember what version it was but I didn't like it very much. thanks for trying to look anyway lol
