i7 950 3.8GHz good OC settings?

Thread Starter
What are some good OC settings for an i7 950 @ 3.8GHz, only posting this because I know that someone has OC'd to 3.8, and I am curious of their settings.
I'm using the ASUS Rampage III Formula Motherboard, with a Corsair A70

Thanks in advance for all posts.

EDIT: Was thinking about using the "Crazy" setting that OCs to 3.7, and go from there.

Use this guide to start OCing your CPU.

I wouldn't recommend using the motherboards auto-OC features (they tend to use a huge amount of voltage), it's better to tweak it yourself using the BIOS.

BTW 3.8GHz is a good overclock, but with a little more tweaking you should be able to get to 4.0GHz, but NOT with the stock cooler...

Yeah my A70 is on the way here from Newegg, I am just getting ready my settings and **** so I can do it right after I replace my stock fan/heatsink.

EDIT: Do you think I would be able to reach 4.0 with a stable OC, with the A70 air cooler?

If I were you, I would avoid the A70. It's not bad, but for serious overclocks, the NH D14 or Silver Arrow seem to be pretty better (on air)

4GHz should be possible with the A70, but don't quote me on that.

Intel data sheet lists absolute maximum voltages for the 900 series i7 as follows

CPU Core - 1.55
CPU VTT - 1.35

try to get it stable with the lowest voltage you can.
I have my I7-950 running 4.0ghz 24/7 stable ( its running great! ). Here are my numbers hope its a little help to you!
