ASUS VG236H and open box

Thread Starter
Im looking to upgrade to 3d monitor. I found this asus vg236h on newegg open box version (http://www.newegg.co...-092R-_-Product) for 355 plus shipping. Original price was 500 + shipping when i last check.

This a open box bundle version with 3d vision kit. I know that all accessories are not included when you buy open box . So I went ahead and contact a CS rep at newegg on friday and said that it should come with monitor and 3d kit but wasn't 100% sure. Rep told me to call back on Monday and someone in warehouse could check.

Also does anyone own this monitor ? Good or bad ? Does gaming feel alot smoother with or without vsnyc on ? Most reviews said it was great monitor with no bleeding at the bottom and great picture. Also will this monitor be able to do 120hz with 1080p res without 3d on? Reason asking is that i heard some 120hz monitor only allow you to use 120hz when 3d was enable and not during 2D. (May have got my facts screw up or something. so let know. i may have miss understood.)

Should i just buy non open box version with no 3d vision kit or call see if that's green light on the 3d vision kit is included ?

Thank you.

I used to own that exact monitor. I returned it because it had a stuck pixel that I could not fix and also it wasnt turning on every time i hit the on button. Though that is my experiance with it. MANY AND MANY others have had very possitive responces to that monitor

That monitor can do 120hz in 2d mode as far as i know ( I am not expert) How ever I rmemeber choosing in games that i played 120 refress rates manualy so if that answers your question also yes it was at 1080p when i choose those refresh rates. I couldnt really tell the difference between 120 and 60. they both seem smooth to me.

3d was very fun only problem was that there is ghosting but that is in every single 3d monitor to some degree. also this monitor is VERT bright so it helps when in 3d because 3d is very dark but not near as dark in this monitor because it is so bright. just dont stare into the screen after a long session in 3d because it will be like looking at a bright light after ur eyes have been closed for a long time.

I had concerns about buying an OB monitor just the other week, you can see my experience here, but overall I think open box is a great deal. Mine actually came with all the accessories - power cord, cabling. I don't know anything about 120hz screens, but I wouldn't be afraid to buy OB

I have bought at least 15 open box items from the egg and I'd say 12 come with all parts, plus if contact the company they will usually be willing to help you out in some way with missing parts.
