Thinking of going back to Intel from AMD...

Thread Starter
I build my first desktop last fall, and went with AMD for the first time. All of my computers have been intel until now. I have the chance to get a NIB i7 920 for very very cheap. The switch would only cost me a total of about $150 for the i7 920, Rampage iii Extreme, and 6gb of RAM (after the sale of my current hardware.) I just want to know if it would really be worth the swap. Current Rig in Sig. I don't want to go SB, if i upgrade soon, it will be Ivy bridge and probably not until next year. I just want to get the most out of my system until then. Any advise or information is appreciated. Thanks!

I have a feeling those 2 480s are held back by the low clock of the x6.

I would say go for it. But how cheap is very cheap?

If you are using this desktop for gaming, then I don't think it is worth the upgrade. Your cpu is more than enough for modern games. Save your $150 and put it towards an ivybridge upgrade next year.

Doesnt seem like a $150 upgrade to me...your gaming performance will probably be a touch better, but everything else a wash really.

I would just save til next build

Thanks!
