Need some help, running 2 HDDs

Thread Starter
Ok so my dad's pc was full of crappy programs and stuff and running super slow so I suggested he reformat and get rid of all the crap. Then he didn't really know what he wanted to keep so we just got a 1tb HDD and installed windows on it and I'm putting all the programs that he wants on it. But there's a problem, the new HDD is shown as drive I, this is HDD I want to boot off of and run every thing so can't I make it drive C? The old HDD I put in the case after i installed windows on the new one and it showed up as C and some recovery partition on it is drive D. This old HDD has windows on it and I want to make sure that windows dosent boot from here, i just want it accessible so that if my dad needs anything from it, he can copy it over.

So basically how can I make the new HDD drive C, and how can I make sure to boot from here, not the other HDD?

Thanks guys.

To boot from the drive go into your BIOS and change the boot order with the drive you want to boot from as 1st. There is no need or way (as far as I'm aware of) to change it to C.

You can't change the boot letter of a hard drive with an OS on it and have the OS still work. To do what you want you would need to remove the old hard drive, boot to the Windows Install CD/DVD, delete the partition, reboot to the install disk again, then install the OS making sure that it is designated as C: when you do it.

OK thanks guys,
I changed the other drives to T and S. Atleast there wont be the confusion of putting things on the C drive, thinking its the main one.
