He should be able to pull the mobo info off cpu-z. Then a quick google search will give you whether or not you can do it.

I don't really get anything out of Google... You'll almost never hear anyone say that...

My laptops mainboard is:

Manufacturer: Wistron
Model: 360A 8.60
Chipset: NVIDIA GeForce 8200M Rev. A2
Southbridge: NVIDIA ID075E Rev. A2
LPCIO: NS
BIOS: Hewlett-Packard F.54 (latest)

Seems almost impossible to find anything about it :S

Crap... So this means that the Turion 64 X2 won't fit in it?

It's just weird... I can't seem to find any Turion Ultra Dual Core CPUs...

Hmm... Something odd.

AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60: - want to upgrade to

Socket S1 (S1G1)
Package638-pin lidless micro-PGA

AMD Sempron SI-40: - currently installed

Socket S1 (638)
Package638-pin lidless micro-PGA

AMD Turion Ultra Dual-Core RM-70: - 100% supported

Socket S1 (S1G2)
Package638-pin lidless micro-PGA

To me it seems that the CPU I want, would fit in my socket.

Sorry to hear that. But that's part of the problem with the laptop world. You rarely have the chance to swap anything beyond HDD and RAM out because most mainboards are for lock-down mindset manufacturers.

As explained earlier, the 638 is a STANDARD socket size so any 638 CPU will PHYSICALLY FIT in the socket, however if your mb doesn't support the cpu then the cpu might as well not be there

Yeah, I knew, I would run into problems, but that Turion 64 X2 is SO cheap.

Well, when I see Socket S1 on all three, and all three have the 638 as standard, I just can't see why they cannot fit

I mean, I'm not stupid... I understand what you're saying. It's just so damn annoying! Maybe I should just try with the AMD Turion 64 X2. It's a really small amount - $25-$35
