It says here that PC's lowest setting is comparable to consoles, but still being better in terms of lighting, shadows, textures, resolution etc.

GameTrailers? I wasted some good money buying games based upon their reviews. Now I block their domain via my hosts file.

Their HD video reviews seemed informative, however it took me about half a dozen purchases before I realized they were just pimping console titles and anything resembling decent gameplay was either unnoticed or rated opposite of what it was. Also, their definition of "good graphics" or "great graphics" differs VASTLY from that of a PC gamer.

Again, do yourself a favor guys and add the following lines to your hosts file, excluding the quotation marks of course:

"127.0.0.1 gametrailers.com"
"127.0.0.1 www.gametrailers.com"

Yes, It's a given, the developer doesn't even have to do anything differently, you can always force extra AA in the drivers.

Should developers make specific PC textures, or add additional graphical eye candy for the PC?

Will you tools buy it regardless?

Do you enjoy spending $500 every year to play next year's hot game , which will still play the same and look remarkably similar to the game running on a $300 console that's 4 years old?
You're blind.

Graphics are the reason OCN exists. The reason we're ALL here.

You might as well be saying "Ah, to heck with food, wouldn't you guys breath the same way anyway?"

My point to this entire thread is this:

ANY game will look better on an open-source console (PC) versus a kiddie/apple-style console (Xbox 360/PS3).

The question is - would it look better if we matched the console's graphical settings.

Because it doesn't.. if AA and higher resolution and perhaps better textures are the ONLY thing separating consoles and the PC..

Then soon enough, nothing will separate between consoles and the PC.

And that sucks. Because the consoles have GPUs half as powerful as an 8800 GTX.

You know.. that's what rentals/torrents are for..

Don't hate the website just because they're biased. So are we. But we know better.

Rentals for PC games? Where? Publishers and/or devs have pretty much stopped releasing demos for PC's altogether. As for torrents, I don't pirate games, especially since some of my friends and family members that do seem to have to reinstall their operating systems on a semi-annual basis, what with dealing with shady cracks, no-CD patches, and what-not, which many times have variety of malware attached to em.

No, these days if you want to play a PC game, you buy it. Only way, legal way that is at least. If you are lucky a friend or a family member might buy it before you so you can get a look. Online opinions, written, spoken (videos) mean nothing, especially since many "PC gamers" these days are nothing but console fanbois themselves who use their PC more for Facebook purposes and what-not than gaming.

No, GameTrailers is staying in my hosts file, and I recommend this to any PC gamer out there. Heck, just visiting their site you are making them money (ad revenue).

You have a really closed-off world view. I hope it doesn't hurt you more than it benefits you.

As for the comparison Video... its okay. Their Media player is crappy and the video is too compressed to make any significant details out.
Oh, the irony...

Watch Gametrailers' Mass Effect 2 360 PS3 comparison. You will lol because they accidentally compare in game FMVs.

He's not really doing the same thing. He's right - GameTrailers CONSTANTLY regaled us with stories of how Uncharted 2 looks better than Crysis and is by far the best looking game in the world.

That stinks to high heaven, but I still watch GT, mainly for ScrewAttack and the narrator with the voice I like.

And mind you, ScrewAttack are HUGE Nintendo fan-boys and anti-Sony fan-boys. They make it almost too obvious.
