Razer imperator starts malfunctioning after a year of usage

Thread Starter
I've used my imperator for a year with the same setup, mouse pad and all. However, just a few days ago, I started having this problem where the mouse would become unresponsive (doesn't register movement) every minute or so, for a few seconds. This issue still persists, and is bothering me.

I'd like to know if anyone has heard of anything similiar.

PS: No PTE hate. I acknowledge the issues with PTE, and I did before the purchase. However, this was one of the few mice that actually fit my hand very well with each grip style, so I chose it. I don't care about the z axis liftoff issue too much. However, I've never heard of this kind of malfunction with any other mouse besides the mamba, where it was a simple connection issue.

PPS: Tried blowing on the sensor. No go..

PPPS: Let's hope that this is something fixable. I don't want to spend the money on a new mouse. :x

Halp?

Razer backs their Imperator with a 2 year warranty, I would just set up the RMA.

Will consider, if I can't get this sorted more easily..

Yeah indeed, you're still in the warranty times, RMA it with no expenses.

Don't go through the headache of trying to figure out whats wrong, if you still have warranty then RMA it.

The RMA process is trouble compared to trying to figure out the problem for a few days.

Might be something simple... I'll try a few things in the following days to figure it out.

EDIT: Just wanted to see if anyone had any more ideas.

My Imperator also started acting up. I've had it for about 9 months, and now the vertical tracking freezes, and it gets stuck in only horizontal movement, sometimes for seconds at a time.

Razer support has been useless, so I'm probably gonna RMA it and get a Roccat in the meantime

This issue disappeared a few days after the last post in this thread. I'm keeping my eye on it, but for now it is fine.

There was no dust in the sensor. Nothing that I could see. Used to happen on all USB ports. USB cable end was clean, and so were the ports. Puzzles me how it works again but it does.

I had this issue with my Lachesis. I found out that windows update pulled down a bad driver for it. Once I downloaded the latest driver from razer's website and installed it, the mouse was fine!

Yeap mine started to work for about a week, but recently started acting up again. I checked sensor, port, used mouse on diff PC, reinstalled firmware & drivers, but the issue is still back (seems better tho). Anyways, gonna get it replaced; if it happens again im getting a roccat :|
