Anyone still run a Q6600? - Page 5

I still use a 6600 in my media pc. Its not an full blown HTPC, just something I hooked up to my tv for movies/netflix. Its in a dell xps 420. Say what you want about prebuilt PC's, but I have to admit. The thing is a well built gaming PC. After a graphics card upgrade when I bought it (back in 2007) I was able to max out all my games (EQ, WoW, AoC, Dawn of War, etc). I'm a firm believer that getting a hardcore processor is pointless nowadays. Since I have a 920 in my current pc (OC 3.4), it runs like a champion. Upgrade the graphics cards, and I run everything maxed out (granted I do have a asus 580 DCII I just bought, had to RMA though after it **** the bed on me after day 4, trying to get a 590 instead for S's & G's).

My Q6600 at 3.6ghz (9x400 at 1.31v) with a 5850 and SSD is still enough power for the 1680x1050 resolution that I use.

I am itching to upgrade to a 2500/2600k but I am going to wait and see how the market looks next fall/winter.
Once I do upgrade I'm definitely keeping this Q6600 and UD3R around as it's such a nice combo.

When I built this in November 2007 I was coming from a A64 3000+ winchester at 2.6ghz, ATI 9600pro and 2gb of DDR400 so upgrading to a Q6600 at 3.6ghz, BFG 8800gt and 2gb of Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066 was a real eye opener!

Hi
I bought mine new in 2008,still a bit left on the 3 year warranty.I made 3.4 in about 20 min on a EP45-UD3P then set things back a bit for a "daily driver". I will hang on to it as a collectors item or museum piece.

Had the urge to upgrade as well, but I decided to wait for Ivy or Bulldozer and go all out.

Mine is still holding up, but I mostly keep it at 3.2Ghz. Bought it just before the release of the original Crysis, which was released November 2007.

Absolutely. It does everything I need. Gotten it stable @ 3.7 (1.52v) but run it @ 3.5 (1.41v) for everyday use because of temps.

I keep throwing the idea around about upgrading but just haven't really felt the need to do so.
