I was acurate on the GTX 570 > AMD 6950. The poster wanted to choose between AMD 6950 unlocked, GTX 570, or AMD 6970. I advised him go either GTX 570 or AMD 6970.

He could unlock the AMD 6950 to give close comparison, but could get better performance with other two and then over clock it for even more, that's all.
Unlocked 6950 can also overclock, there is nothing wrong.

Better performance and value are two completely different things. Unlocked or not; the 6950 is more bang for the buck imo. And as I said, if you ever go eyefinity or CF the 6950 is a better deal even then.

I was just sticking to the original post question per his system specs and he didn't mention value just what he could afford. So naturally I went with performance. That's all, wasn't arguing your point. That's why I still say, he would have been better off with AMD 6970 or GTX 570.

OP POST (Quote) "Here are the 3 cards that I am mainly looking at within my price range:

1. AMD HD 6950 2 Gb
2. AMD HD 6970 2 Gb
3. Nvidia GTX 570 1.28 Gb

I was wondering what card to get out of these."(Unquote)

Oh look, another dead 570 http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...nt-help-2.html beyond me how anyone can recommend these cards.

Anyway, since he did not mention money, how exactly am I wrong then? I'm just about as right as you are. I assumed he wanted the most out of his money, you assumed he wanted the best performance.

Spoken like a person who doesn't know much and fan boy. Your obviously one by that response and I've read your posts before.

First off that person tweaked the voltage on the card and that can happen to any card. I can show you threads on OVERCLOCK.net where AMD 6950 and AMD 6970's died but that's the risk we take when over clocking voltage on any pcb. Doesn't make them all that way.

You just choose to see through rose colored glasses and didn't bother being fairly subjective. The GTX 570, AMD 6950, or AMD 6970 cards don't just die. We tweaked them too far and put them through stress test beyond normal real situations that kill them. It's the nature of the beast on this site where we are enthusiasts and hobbyist with our computers at OVERCLOCK.net. For the majority of normal users and mild over clockers this isn't happening.

All three cards the poster would have chosen are good cards, each have their own strengths.

My discussion with you is over since I hate internet debates with fan boys and those who read these post notice it and your post becomes of less value.

I always remind people that choosing between Nvidia or AMD is like trying to pick between a green or red apple out of a barrel when they both taste just as good.

I bet those high quality VRMs from Nvidia are so good, right? We're on an overclocking site- a lot people like to overclock, the 570 is not exactly a good choice then.

Keep living in denial bro, I'm just sharing my 2 cents. I'd recommend Nvidia if they actually had good cards on the table.

Thread Starter
Guys, guys I don't want this to turn into a flame war. The GTX 570 served me well but for $350 I felt like I could have gotten similar performance for a lot less. I am always a fan of saving money and the unlockable HD 6950 caught my attention after really considering how much $$ I can save and get better performance.

Also, to be honest even though people pump large amounts of voltage through their 570, I still did not like the fact that the GTX 570 had lower quality VRAM. Since AMD rushed the HD 6950, the higher quality VRAM makes me feel more confident.
