My buddy Ray called me the other day and said the computer would not turn on, at all. nothing.
I asked him to make sure that the cord from the powersupply was securly plugged into the psu and at the wall. then I told him to try flipping the switch on the back of the psu. All the simple reasons that the pc would not turn on. Still nothing.
Well, I offer lifetime customer service for any of my 'elite' builds, so I went over to his house to check it out.
Yep- it wouldn't turn on. no lights on the motherboard, nothing. I packed it up and took it home.
Man oh man was this rig full of dust! I mean not as bad as my fathers computer when it gave up and died haha but pretty damn dirty. At least the water res was topped off nicely lol. Anyway, The first thing I suspected was the power supply as I have had problems previously with the HX-850. I cut about 15 zip ties and liberated the psu from the 800D.
I took a paper-clip and connected the green lead (on the 20+4 pin) to one of the black leads. Plugged the psu into the wall and tested it to see if the fan would spin up. Nothing. Dead.
I just tracked down the newegg receipt for the HX-850 and filed an RMA with Corsair. They should get back to me within 24 hours.
I'll update when I get any new info.
