PC and PS3 gamer

Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on headsets/ headphones for gaming with both a pc and a ps3. I play both thru my pc monitor.

At the moment I have one pair headphones that I have to switch between both devices. I am looking for a way to have the audio from both the pc and the ps3 thru the one set of headphones without the need to manually disconnect and reconnect.

I also talk in game so I would need to be able to that for both.

I would like to get a set of Audio-Technica ATH M50 and maybe the inline Zalman mic but I don't know of anyway to connect the audio out from both devices to these and still allow the mic audio in.

I had even started looking at the Logitech f540 as it allows multiple sources but I wouldn't be able to speak via the pc. I think I'd have the same problem with the Astro mix amps. I had even started looking at the Turtle Beach px5 but I am not sure that they'd even do this and I haven't found any reviews as to sound quality. The wireless aspect would be nice but I don't really need the bling that comes with it.

So have any of you got any advice?

Cheers guys.

I can't think of any way you can get around manually switching sources. You could set up your headphones to an audio receiver and allow you to switch the audio sources that way or you could run the ps3 audio through you computer sound card and control audio sources for the headphones through that. However, for the mic, you are going to need to manually unplug it from one source and plug it into the other as far as I know. Sorry about that. For headphones, I would definitely recommend the ath-ad700s over the ath-m50s. They have a better sound stage and make better gaming headphones. Just beware that they do bleed sound so others might be able to hear the sound from the headphones.

wow thanks for the speedy response omnius.

I was afraid that what you say about the mic would be the case. I was thinking of trying to get a splitter of some sort and run the mic in to both pc and ps3 but I guess the loss in quality would make my incoherent mutterings even less clear.

I will take a look at the ad700's, thanks for the heads up.
