What an alarmist statement. Simply put, if you (general stating "you") don't have a clue about water cooling, don't get into it. There are plenty of things in the world that uninformed people shouldn't have anything to do with, this includes water cooling. That doesn't mean that they're/it's riddle with problems and should be avoided.

I also find it somewhat humorous that you list a ~$30 cooler and then a ~$80 one, not giving any explanation behind why he should choose one of those two, let alone offering options in between those price ranges.

@ OP:

The V10 is a mediocre heatsink, claiming to offer superior performance due to it's peltier plate, and the massive size of the cooler would cause one to think it's one of the best. Quite the contrary actually. It is by no means a bad cooler, but there are much better, and much cheaper solutions. A Prolimatech Megahalems/Super Mega, Thermalright TRUE (any revision really)/Venomous-X/Archon/Silver Arrow, Noctua D14, Cogage Arrow, Corsair H50/H60/H70 etc. all perform better than a Cooler Master V10.

As for going true water cooling, I'd only do it if you are looking for high overclocks or low temperatures on a moderate overclock; this means 3.8 GHz+ on that i7 870. If you are barely overclocking at all, the entire point of this topic is moot.

I already listed a decent amount for you in my previous post. Titan Fenrir is a good CPU cooler, close to one of the better coolers, but at the low end of the ones I suggested.

Shouldn't be any ram issues either, if you're unsure, click the link in my sig.

But if you can fit a V10 with Ripjaws, you can fit a D14.

The V10 is overpriced and I would consider the beta version of the Prolimatech Genesis (they have similar if not identical designs). But the Genesis while still only available in Europe currently can cool as good as the D14 and SA, and can even fit the taller Corsair Dominator RAM.
