SB Costa Rica "3" batch survey: Post your results

Thread Starter
Trying to see how well the costa rica chips are doing, compared to the Malaysian chips.

The Costa Rica chips start with a batch code of "3", compared to the Malaysia "L".
There are also many more Malaysian chips out there; apparently the CR plant got the chips into circulation later. The oldest CR batch I've seen so far was week 48 2010, with many being week 1 to week 3 2011.

So let's see if the CR chips are on par, or stronger than the Malay samples.
I haven't seen any people unable to reach 5 ghz yet. (worst chip I saw did 5 ghz at 1.45v; not enough samples to conclude anything yet).

Post your batch codes, and how far your CPU's are reaching, and also post the vcore required to run at 5 ghz.

Also, for comparison's sake, post the default VID for the chips, when run at 3400 mhz stock (3300 mhz for the 2500k).

Here's mine:
3101A209
Default VID 1.21v (@3400 mhz)--note: high leakage, runs hot, 5-6C hotter than my malay.
Runs 45x100 @ 1.236v load (1.265v BIOS, LLC1)
50x100 @ 1.404v load (1.445v BIOS)
Max multiplier PLL disabled=x49

A guy about 10 posts down returned his Costa Rica chip because it wouldn't even stabilize at 4.5 Ghz with > 1.35v.

His Malaysia chip was stable at 4.5 and 1.288v.
My Malaysia is @ 4.8 Ghz at 1.312 or 1.316v (can't remember which)

Just for reference

Excellent. Need more results like this.
So far that's the first CR chip that I heard of that was "bad" (OC wise, of course).

Costa Rica B/N 3049A300 here (december 2010) - stable at 5GHz 1.4v, but I run it at 4.6GHz at 1.25v (these might actually go lower - believe it or not I've had no freezes or BSODs with this chip yet - I plan on changing that )

This seems about the same as everyone else, if not a little better.

Just got mine a few days ago, it's batch 3049A233

I haven't really tried much above 4.5ghz but it's stable at 1.256v under load. I had a quick try at 5ghz yesterday, I just set the vcore to 1.425 and upped the multi to 50 and it started fine first go with PLL over-voltage disabled, didn't do any testing though, I'll get round to that later today

You were running 1.4v with an Arctic Freezer 7?
Those must have been some scary temps...

They were.

I had my window open at the time (window is right next to the PC and it's cold outside) so they weren't that bad, but this cooler is pretty bad, and I definitely wouldn't run it at 5ghz normally.

Also, what is the Xigmatek S1283 like? I'm in the market for a new cooler.

It's a good budget cooler but if you want to push it on air, I would look into getting a Noctua. I know a lot of guys on here use them and love them. Mine hits 73C at 1.375v. That should be enough (on a good chip) to get you to 4.8 Ghz. I have a good chip and only need 1.312v to hit 4.8 Ghz and my temps are always < 50C - even during long gaming sessions...

I could go higher by buying another, or better fan than stock. Also, if you are looking at the Xiggy, I would look at the Dark Knight (basically the same thing but includes the retention brackets)
