No, dude, just buy the GTX 460. It's 115$ and you'll be VERY happy.

BTW, Your DIY projector isn't going to have a resolution of 1080p.

I am aware of that. It will be 720p which is good enough for now. If I need a higher resolution I will use my 22'' lcd.

I recommend a 6870. Games on max settings hold at least 60 fps on most games in 1920x1080 that i have played.
