980x - Is 1.41 high for a 4.32 oc?

Thread Starter
Title says it all. I know there are differences between chips, but I see a lot of people able to achieve similar oc on lower voltages. I had this running at 1.39 and was getting approx 5-6c better load temps, but had some instability on heavily CPU intensive stuff (h264 encoding).

Are there other settings I can tweak that will allow me to bring my VCore down?

What are your load temps?
what programs are you using for stability? Prime95, Intel Burn Test......
I achieved a 4.35ghz on a 1.35v (8hrs prime95 and 15 passes on IBT)

1.41v is somewhat high but if its stable and the load temps don't pass 90C and you feel comfortable running 24/7, be my guest.

Intel burn test for stability. That and just real-world use with RipBot x264.
I wouldn't say it's 24/7 - when it is "throttled down," it sits at 1.14-1.2.
Load temps hit about 67, before it was more like 63.

No error codes, but the program stopped working, or the computer crashed. I also had Intel Burn Test fail after 6 passes. The weird thing about that, though, is I ran it before and after for 20 passes and it was fine. I prefer to have it perfectly stable though.

For Intel Burn Test

5 passes for everyday usage, web browsing and light games.
10 passes for graphically intense games
15 passes for Folding
20 passes for paranoid people.

Just find the most stable configuration you are most comfortable with.
I was able to run 4.5ghz on 1.41v for every day use but got an error on the 3rd hour on prime95 and so I went with 4.35ghz for stability.

I could only get 4.35 out of 1.40vcore no matter how I tweaked. So I'd say yours is normal, or at least very similar to mine.

What does that make me?

I do long numerical work and molecular dynamics simulations. I run my computer full swing for 12-36 hours. I needed more stability than your average gamer because my stakes are higher. Whatever you feel comfortable with is good. I'd say 20 passes. It isn't very long, and it's a good tell of stability. Then if you wanna make sure, run prime95 blend for 24 hours.
