Why do people go through Xboxs like nothing? - Page 2

I haven't used my Xbox in months. But when I do it is kept in an open area with lots of ventilation. I only remember having problems with my first one back in 2005.

But ya I used the install feature on any game I find myslef playing a lot.

I did a "Shop-n-swap" trick to get a new HDMI 360 when they first came out, then again to get a free 120gb hard drive upgrade. So I have a new model with lots of space to install games.

I install all my games... I was lucky enough to get a Jasper "arcade" new for $100 when the slims just arrived, so I was able to buy a 250GB HD for like $60. Anyway, I install all my games. But here's the thing - the XBOX still verifies that the disc is in the drive, and you need the drive to work for that to happen.

I shouldn't be forced to install something to my HDD to avoid a fatal flaw in the product. I have a 20GB HDD and I don't have the room to do that. Granted my 360 is used for streaming movies and netflix mainly but thats not a solution at all.

I have a 20GB version and I can honestly say I don't have the HD space to install games. With all of my XBLA games and DLC I don't have the 8GB of space to install on.

I have <2 GB.

I know I could get a USB stick to use, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Probably because you are smart enough to have space on either side of the xbox for it to ventilate properly. Not that the stock cooling is that good, but it won't fail unless you block the airflow.

That's not true, he's just one of the lucky few. I had my launch model up until the end of '09 I believe... It was always well ventilated and taken care of. It would be pretty amazing for a launch console to still be running without some type of cooling mod(s).
