Phenom II X2 555 BE - What % now unlock to 4 cores? - Page 4

I've helped atleast 15 people here with their 5xx series chip and from what i can say is that about 60% of all chips will unlock. Now here is where it gets interesting, about 30% of overall persons get their chips to unlock and be stable (full X4) but i have noticed that about 75% of people often get one extra core working and the other core is defective.

I personally have gotten my 555 to unlock to a B55 quad and get a good OC @ 4.2ghz. But what most people miss is that the chip by itself as a dual core, is a extremely good OC chip, as a dual core config i am able to get my chip to 4.5ghz with air cooling not bad I would say.

Check my sig. It lasted about 6 months, now I'm down to 3 cores stable, not bothered trying to O/C, I was on 3.6ghz stable on 4 cores for a while.

It is a good dual-core chip, it plays Crysis 2 with no sweat but more intense DX11 games it makes me suffer a bit.

At the time it was a cheap option to get an extra core or two, but looking back I wish I just spent an extra 20-30 nick just to get the 955. Right now I'm struggling and waiting on BD is painful, I wish I knew more about it so I would know if it would be a better purchase than SB.

Take the risk if you can live without the extra cores if it goes tits up. If you need a x4 then buy a x4.

Hope this helps.
I'm also thinking of going BD or SB but waiting on the next gene (mATX) edition motherboard from ASUS. If the gene edition comes out I'd go SB if not, then I'd wait for the BD.

From what I have learned with my current rig, I'm either going to go 100% best overclocking mobo or not overclock at all.

Just to weigh in on your chances, I got my 550BE C2 in March of `10 and it immediately was good up to 3.8Ghz stable unlocked, but it produces a very large amount of heat.

I got a 555BE C3 for my brother sometime later, and it unlocked and was stable as well. Didn't try OC'ing, because he is using an MSI 770 board.

Even later I convinced my cousin to get one, and it is stable unlocked as well. In short, I have never had one that couldn't unlock. These are the absolute best bang for the buck I have ever seen.

I love the chip i have so far otehr than the fact i cant get to display the cpu temp at all on windows. I to see the cpu temp on the msi over clocking utilty with no luck either am i doing some thing wrong. I have not even tried to get the thing going very much since i cant see the temp. Any thoughts. Side note my mobo was like 80 dollars at frys, it has a bunch of software with it i have no idea about. Some thing called supper charger, core unlocker which worked like a charm, and soem other thing that you can adjust yours bios while in windows. Any thoughts on how i can get something to display the cpu temp. Did i just repeat myself.

did you not read the rest of this thread? the diode breaks when its a quad and core temps are not available, however the cpu temp is still accurate.
if your running it as a dual core and not getting temps,i would consider RMA as that is faulty and not safe to clock.
As for windows 'clocking' utils, dont bother, bios is still you best method

DID YOU NOT READ WHAT I WROTE. I SAID I GET THE CPU TEMP IN BASE BIOS JUST NOT IN THE WINDOWS OPERATING SYTEM. ALSO CPU Z DOES NOT REGISTER IT. ALSO IF THE DIODE BREAKS GOING BACK TO A DUAL FROM THE QUAD WILL NOT MAKE THE CORE TEMPS WORK RIGHT?

Well, I have 560 BE X2, sucesfully unlocked to 4 cores and ran a stability test for a hour, no troubles. I'm also planing to OC it to somewhere over 4GHz, only saving for my new cooler, the mobo I'm using is Asus m4a89gtd pro, so I think yours should unlock quite well too, regarding the reviews about it and since I've done it my self with a similar cpu. You might get extremely unlucky and you won't be able to unlock to 4 cores, yet mostly if it ain't 4 that unlocks, its at least 3, so you'd get an odd 3 core cpu which is still better then 2. xD

first off you started with the attitude. Second you talk trash yet have not answered the question again. So i know you are superior to me , cause i type and often do not proof read, but if you dont know the answer than leave it alone.

the answer is uninstall and reinstall your software temp checkers, very simple,or download hw monitor instead.
on a side note, open your own thread on this subject, your temp issue as nothing to do with the OP's core unlocking questions.
