Oh yeah, the part where of the game where you are actually playing the game. Crysis 2 has amazing graphics, definitely just at least as good as the first one. As well, as a shooter, it's much more varied than crap like CoD so I don't understand the all the flak it's receiving. If all you're concerned with is the graphics, why don't you just go watch a CGI movie and maybe then we'll all be happy.
The funniest part is how contradictory he is. He's so amped for linear-as-hell, great-but-not-bleeding edge-graphics, gameplay-over-graphics Portal 2, but somehow he has a completely different set of views on what constitutes a failure/port/worstgameofalltime from Crysis 2.

Rofl what?! That's so arbitrary, it's sad.

You know what people have been using as a reason to not buy Crysis 2?

- Press start

- Adjust your Tv

Two incorrect WORDS were used to justify pirating a game that likely took $40 million and tens of thousands of man-hours to make. Under your reasoning, people could just make up whatever excuse they wanted to as a reason to justify their pirating. How about you just don't pirate OR buy the game? Why not just use your console ( if you have one ) and RENT the game? You save money if it's a bad game, you avoid piracy and the excuse it gives the Devs for putting out what you feel is a bad game AND you don't give the dev any money.

So you support this kind of piracy? Or am I misunderstanding? If it is not worth buying, then it must be not worth playing. Therefore, if it is not worth playing, it should not be worth pirating. Still does not make piracy right.

Exactly. I'm really excited for Portal 2 (and let's face it, who isn't?), not because of its graphics (after all, it has to cater to the PS3 as well; should we start jumping on Valve for selling us out on that?) but because of the innovative gameplay it brought as well as an interesting premise.

While Crysis 2 CAN be defined as a military shooter that we have tons of these days, it's one that does many things right and doesn't just jump in to the mediocrity craphole that we find so many other FPSs in.

The nanosuit modes, expansive areas that give for options on how you want to approach your objective, and the amazing graphical quality really make for an experience that is different from the likes of "kill y enemies to proceed through linear 2-foot-wide corridor after which you'll do the same thing again" gameplay of CoD.

You're exactly the kind of guy which makes me write long rants about piracy, if a game isn't worth buying that means it's not worth pirating, why would you want to play a game that isn't worth being played, unless you have a secret desire to discredit PC gamers and kill our platform.

Can't say I'm surprised by this. However these sales #'s don't include STEAM or any other digital DL services.

Hopefully Crytek can stick with consoles where they belong now. They've lost my respect after dumbing down the game into another COD-corridor-non-sandbox-shooter.

I mean really... a lot of the fun in the first 2 Crysis was you could literally shoot down every single tree, blow up almost every single building and stack barrels and barrels with lines of jeeps and watch as you shoot an RPG at it and make your own mini-nuke.

Crysis 2? Nearly everything is static. Anything you can grab is irrelevant minus a few barrels here and there. Cars all look identical and all you can do is use them for cover and power kick them. Big whoop.

The whole "if you don't like a game, don't buy it" thing is a little extreme.

What most of the industry fails to realize is that we gamers are ordinary people. We have bills and other expenses, and generally have a budget on games.

Say I've allotted $100/month to my video game budget. That means I'm going to spend $100 every month on games and not a penny more. That usually works out to two games/month. So I buy the two games I want the most. But what if its a particularly good month and a third game comes along, and I want to play it, but my budget is shot. I could just not play it, and by next month it will be completely forgotten. Or I could pirate it. I don't have enough money to buy it, so the developer isn't losing anything, and maybe next month there will be a sale or some DLC and I'll say "hey, that was a decent game, and there isn't anything I want this month, so I guess I'll buy it". It might not be the next month, it may be a GoTY edition a year layer, but if I enjoy the game, the I'll probably buy it.

I've actually ended up doing both. I bought Civilization 4, Fallout 3, and Oblivion on Steam after pirating them, and I still haven't played, nor have any desire to buy Dead Space or Bulletstorm or any of the Total War series, even though they are probably good games.

As explained many times by me in various threads, it is NOT like CoD. Go play Black Ops and then play Crysis 2, and list how many times you used the same tactics in both games. CoD is run-gun shoot everything in sight. Crysis 2 requires planning, observation and good use of suit abilities. Running and gunning will quickly leave you dead.

Okay, so Crysis was a fun sandbox to play around in. Perhaps some of us wanted a game with meaningful objectives and story this time around? I don't understand why Crysis 2 had to be a clone of the original. No one is forcing you to not go back to playing Crysis WARHEAD and making whatever 1000 barrel explosions for lulz. Thing is, Crytek already did that in Crysis so maybe they wanted something slightly different for a sequel.

So not having enough money entitles you to pirate that third game somehow ? I spent most of my chilhood in extreme poverty (by French standard at least) and never pirated a game because of that, just because you don't have enough money for a THIRD game in the month (oh POOR you) doesn't mean it gives you the right to give the fingers to the developers of that game (you know they have to feed themselves just like you). Such reasonning really disgust me.

And just like that it's obvious you've either:
  1. Never played the game
  2. Have played it but choose to exaggerate.

And why is every non-sandbox game suddenly comparable to CoD or Halo? Crysis 1 or STALKER aside, all of the top 20 FPS PC-only games are non-sandbox and even Crysis 1 and STALKER have their corridor moments.

Now if you said on-rails shooter where we auto-move from one chest-high barrier to the next, killing everything in the area before being able to move on, then I'd agree with you.

In Crysis 2, trees still fall down. Windows break. Bullets cause realistic bullet holes and knock the pillars to their wire frames. There are 6 or 7 different cars but I'm sure if there were 14 you'd ***** that they should have spent their time doing something else.

You're basically describing stealing, but without a physical product. "Don't have enough money for all the things I want right now, so I'll steal them, and maybe pay for them later."

Yes, this may be what happens with pirates right now. No, I don't agree it is ok.
