This news should be shocking to no one.

that is true, the DX11 cards only hold a 5% share of all GPUs installed in gaming rigs.

the point is, DX11 is there alright, there just isn't enough cards to go around for some developers to justify developing DX11 yet. This will change soon as the old 8800 gts will become a GTX 460 or whatever. it just takes a while.

I'm still betting that it won't ever have a DX11 patch. Crytek is going to whine and complain that PC gamers pirated it, just like they did with Crysis 1 (even though Crysis is still one of the best selling games on the PC)..and then flat out drop support for it. Good bye DX11, good bye consolitis, good bye any more money they'll ever see out of this turd.

Cry-Tom reportedly announced that there is no DX11 patch coming as of yet. That the rumored patch for today was never official, and was never planned on being released...that it was a hoax site.

Oh, want source?

But Crysis 2 doesn't even have DX10...something that Crysis 1 did have.

Can Crysis 2 mods ever reach the same level as Crysis 1 mods?

Thank you! I'm tired of people using piracy as a scapegoat. It's bad enough when developers do it, we don't need fellow gamers joining in on it.

Torrents are not a reference, they represent but a small portion of piracy. Most of the world is still stuck on 128kb/s, 256kb/s connections. Do you have any idea how long it takes to download new games?

This subject has already been discussed here, and many members who live outside the US and Europe have witnessed how rampant console piracy is throughout the world.

The only way I will believe piracy is hurting the PC gaming is when games like Starcraft and Half-life stop selling well.
Edit: Seriously aruond here it's as simple as buying an already modded 360 and just plug in and play a pirated game. Whereas for the PC you have to crack manually, something 13 year olds (most pirates) have a difficulty with. Ask any pirating shop around here why they stopped selling PC games.

I think you'll find a similar case with the video game industry. Pirating has an impact on the industry, but not to the extent claimed.

It's actually kinda hard to find concrete number for PC, which makes me suspicious, considering how much pain they claim to be in.

well what i think is Crytek made this more of a Consolized (Not sure if actual word< tongue.gif) game to get the funds to make a BETTER Crysis 3 biggrin.gif. Just like EA did with BF:BC and BF:BC2. And are now making the best battlefield game for the PC.

Just my thoughts smile.gif BTW I'm still getting Crysis 2 no matter what the morons says about the graphics wink.gif you buy a game to play, not morp about looking at indivudual textures of a damn LEAF you got Aliens shooting your Ass. smile.gif

Agreed. When a publisher exec sees low sales figures combined with a high rate of piracy, they get bitter and blame the former on the latter. The Sims franchise is mostly exclusive to PC, consistently sells 4m+ copies in its lifespan on that platform alone, and is pirated just as much as any other major title. I don't think piracy has as much of a negative effect as people think it does, but it just seems like a good scapegoat. I personally have no idea why some PC games sell well and others don't, and I don't believe it's necessarily a quality issue either.

Like you said total industry figures, the growth can only be attributed to console gaming, when no game will be released on PC every pirate will cry because they won't have any game left to steal, pirate all you want if you want to live like a low life but don't come here and justify it and even claim it's some sort of rightous act like you're a modern Robin Hood.

Pricing is the problem. PC audience is just not stupid enough to pay $60 for 8 hour long piece of software these days, everyone just waiting for the next Steam sale to jump on. And if piracy got squashed, people just going to sit there and play counter strike and not buy any of the new games anyway.

But crapsole audience has their rich mommies and daddies who love paying $60 for all the new games that come out, and they have other pricing models such as rentals to generate revenue.

The average console gamer is 25 years old so will you please stop with the excuse that console gamers are kids, you just have to go to a dedicated console forum and you'll see that piracy is something most of the users dislike, while us presumably "superior gamers" absolutely condone it, killing our platform one game at a time.
