Ever Try a Thermoelectric Aquarium Chiller in Your Rez?

Was wondering if they would make a significant difference. I somehow doubt it but still wonder.

http://www.finsdepot.com/product/ABBIPWC-50

They claim it will drop 10 gallons of water by 6 to 8 ° F seeing as my 2 loops only have about half a gallon total....

I like the concept of it in that it doesnt make noise

Remeniscent of a cold finger but there is no tech spec on power requirements,
so it may be horribly ineificent for just a drop of 16c using a pair of them.

i was contemplating a similar idea last night:
a res made of copper, slightly smaller than a couple of dvd drives, then an outer box out of aluminium that acts as a heatsink for the tecs sandwiched inbetween.

This may or may not be possible but i like the concept of the chiller/res taking up just a couple of drive bays so its all compact and i guess the chassis of the computer case could be coupled to the heatsink/res part to make the case a heatsink too-aiding in pulldown.

no noise and no long tails of pipe like i have with my chiller.

that's with water that isn't under a heat load though. I'm guessing that TEC would be very weak. Yes, hardcore people use TEC chillers and direct contact TECs for subzero watercooling epicness.

I was thinking of a Moroso Fuel Chiller Cannister. It's plastic so you can remove the tubing make the inlet and outlet large enough to accept whatever diameter tubing you're using and can fill it with a small amount of ice and water. It's spendy though, and I'm not sure if it would bring condensation into the picture, but I would think that with enough flow that it shouldn't be an issue.

The page has claims of "50 watts of cooling power," which would allude to it having a 50 watt TEC. While I doubt adding one would hurt anything, I also doubt it would help much since it is a lower watt unit. Instead, why not try a 200+ watt TEC with a water block on it, and then have another loop just to cool the TEC as well.

That's why I figured it wouldn't do much, maybe 1 °C difference at idle, lol.

I have separate loops now but I would need more radiators (currently have a 240 radiator for each loop) to cool a TEC on my CPU and condensation is not something I look forward to dealing with. I have no other place to mount radiators in/on my case. I could buy a 480 radiator for the CPU loop but then what do I do with my spare 240?

You have a similar-ish setup to mine. I'm running 2x 240 radiators with a 120, all in a single loop. My temps are fine.

It is only a 50w TEC, so you would shave a few degrees at best. Not really worth the additional heat load/power consumption.
Once again...

My temps are good too but there's always better! My CPU won't go higher without substantial voltage increases so I've contemplated peltiers and such to reduce temps.

These are cheap and a cold plate is even cheaper (not sure if it's necessary)
