Help! Popping Cracking sounds.

Thread Starter
I built my new rig last week and it's running beautifully, I do have one problem however. I get an annoying popping/ crackling sound from the integrated audio and from my sound car (which I installed today hoping to fix my problem.) I disabled the on-board sound after installing my Creative Audigy and hoped that it would resolve my problems. It didn't.

I've tried un-installing and reinstalling drivers but to no avail. I really am at a loss here and I'm thinking that it might be a defective motherboard. My motherboard is an Asus P8P67 Pro and I'm on Bios 1305. B3 revision of course.

To clarify, the popping/ crackling only occurs whilst listening to audio, playing games or watching videos. The speakers are fine as they work beautifully with my Xbox.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

I really appreciate any help, thank you.

I completely un-installed every sound driver on my system and restarted. Windows installed drivers on start-up and now it works fine. Testing it with Muse =].

I guess it was driver corruption or some compatibility issue.

Okay, so the problem returned. I looked through as many forums as possible and found a post that was very similar to mine. I tried the suggested method of checking the DPC latency.

My DPC latency was above 20k. I'll be honest, i have no idea what this means. Anyway i re-installed my W-Lan and bang, problem solved. Latency was reduced from 20k to under 200.

If anyone else suffers from this I'd definitely recommend using DPCLAT.exe to identify which is the problem device.

Hope my solution helps you!
