AWD-IT are refusing my RMA :(

Thread Starter
Hello all, ok recently my evga gts 450 which I bought from AWD-IT died. I had painted over the shroud and removed the heatsink, which is all fine under the evga warranty so long as its sent back with the stock cooler. I had to send the card for RMA through awd-it, who refused to repair it saying that removing the heatsink voids the warranty. I tried arguing with them saying that the evga warranty is still valid but they don't want to listen. Now the guy is saying I have to pay for shipping back, I'm out of ways to convince them :/. Any suggestions as to what I could say to prove that what they are doing is in breach of my warranty? I'm all out of ideas

Just direct them to read the eVGA warranty. Seriously, tell them to go to eVGA's website and read the warranty word for word while you're on the phone with them.

Unless I'm missing something, AWD-IT just looks like an online retailer. Why are you going through them for an RMA? Retailers will never ever take back modded products.

Pay them to ship the card back to you and RMA it directly with EVGA.

If you bought it through a company, don't you still register it under eVGA? If so, then why wouldn't you just RMA it to eVGA if it's under warrenty?

I guess if that scenario isn't valid, then I would direct copy+paste from eVGA's website and email it to them, also leaving the link to the source. You are sending it to AWD-IT and not eVGA as you described it. Their RMA services might be different.

^^^^THIS^^^^

AWD-IT has their own warrenty policies. They have the right to refuse you because they aren't EVGA. You're screwed on your shipping money, but he's right, get it back and file with EVGA for warrenty since they will cover it.

Warranties get screwed up outside of the US as the makers force you to go thru your retailer.

I guess I'll have to pay for it to ship back, but the thing is they're supposed to send it to evga for repairs! That's what I don't understand

More or less, retailers are idiots.

Ya it stinks that you are out the money for shipping, and I'll admit I don't know anything about how RMAs work in Europe. In the US, retailers do not usually handle any repair work unless you buy their extended warranty. They only do refund/replace within the return period which is usually 30 days.

On AWD-IT's warranty page: "Modified Goods Any goods that have been modified or physically altered in any way shall be deemed Warranty Void and no support will be provided."
