Really? How do you know? Did you pre-order?

I did pre-order. As for the date I thank Tom Wong
OCZ Technology Director, OEM Sales. As for the time I thank my undisclosed friends at newegg and amazon.com

Icebeam,

Amazon has it listed for 300.00. The updated price I've heard will be 279.99. Will they price match/fix that? I'd rather not overpay 300 dollars but at the same time I do not want to miss an opportunity to purchase the drive right away. I have a brand new computer and want to start using it!!!

Thanks,

Steven

A lot of sites like Newegg do not allow pre-order.

That low of 4k Random read IOPS on the 120GB has me a bit worried. Maybe I should get two of the 240GB. Hmm..

Damn, great point. You've got me worried. What does 4k random read translate to in real world performance?

A quote from the AnandTech preview of the Vertex 3 nonpro
Quote:
If you pay attention to the table above you’ll notice that there are two specs for 4KB random write IOPS: burst and sustained. The burst value is for around 15 seconds of operation, the sustained is what happens when the firmware initiated performance cap kicks into action. By default the SF-2100/2200 drives have a cap of 20,000 IOPS for 4KB random writes. After a period of about 15 seconds, the max performance on these drives will drop to 20K. The SF-2500/2600 controllers are uncapped, max performance can remain at up to 60K IOPS.

The beta Vertex 3 review sample I have here today manages around 45K IOPS in our 4KB random write test. That test runs for 3 minutes straight so obviously the cap should’ve kicked in. However it didn’t.
The article seems to hint that Sandforce may play firmware games based on order size.

Also this review at hardwareheaven compares various results for the c400, vertex 3 and intel 510

ok so is the 120gb vertex 3's 4k going to be capped or not. cause according to the last post the cap didn't kick in after 3 minutes of 4k random test.
