Even if they patch in DX11. It will barely look any different because it was developed for DX9.

Same issue with textures, 11 doesn't magically increase the quality of textures.

PEOPLE thought that Crysis 2 would push everything to every limit and the visuals would be amazing. Now the same people who said that, are saying "Just wait for BF3". Can't wait till Battlefield 3 is considered a port, and the visuals are really just "average".

Well making half arsed console ports is just spicing the Piracy on PC games.

Its not worth money

1) A different API. DX10-10.1-11. Heck, even S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: COP had DX8-11 support! This can be easily patched in.

2) Graphic options. Or just "Options" in general. A setting that almost says "Graphics: Yes - No" will not win in the PC world.

3) 64bit. Warhead had a 64bit patch, so can Crysis 2.

4) This next item will push the faith of gamers in Crytek to the max. Will it happen? Very doubtful. But patching in new textures that don't scream "Xbox 360 was here."
#1 and #3 cannot just easily be patched in.

Changing API calls will create code branching and require regression testing.

Moving to 64-bit is only benficial if the code actually implements 64-bit data structures. To go back and recode would also require regression testing and optimization again.
Once again...

Hmm, in this case, I'd say the egg, or well, piracy, even if, of course, console ports don't help. There's also the lack of demos, of course, but it's just an argument brought up to justify piracy in 95% of the cases (few people will actually buy the game afterwards if they liked it). But then, maybe mentalities have changed too, "piracy" being a relatively new term, I mean, I'm pretty sure that, when installing Warcraft II, for example, you have to choice between a full game install on the hdd (thus not needing the CD in order to play) and a small install (needing the CD to play). Now, what is funny with it is that it is clearly said something like: "If you want to play with a friend on Battle.net, make sure at least one of you two make the full install, otherwise, you'd need 2 CDs".

Which all means: It's a nice question you brought here. Maybe they both come from dinosaurs, and the question is even more complicated

Well, depends. Personally, I'd think BF3 will be more of a PC game than Crysis 2 because, at least they've showed up PC previews first, and not console's. But then, it's most likely marketing, I know it. Wait up and see, as we say.

That's pretty shallow.

You guys, if your buying this game so you can see something pretty then your acting pathetic.

I play games to have fun, if they look good then that is just a bonus.

If your only buying this game for such a shallow reason as the looks of the game rather then actual gameplay then I don't even want to waste the binary bullets in multiplayer to own you guys. And trust me, I could do it without breaking a sweat.

My favorite thing about this game is the similarity to crysis 1, sure its different then crysis, but that's a nice breath of fresh air. But it is similar enough that my experience from the first can carry over to this game pretty easily. My friends and I from our gaming clan are all crysis veterens and have all been absolutely owning. When my two other friends are online 95% of the time we are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in any server.

The fact is that this game takes actual skill to be good at. CoDfish doesn't.

Before people try and shoot this idea down, think about it.

In CoD if you see the enemy first, you win 95% of the time.

In CoD if the enemy sees you first, you lose 95% of the time.

The only time it gets interesting is when you both see each other at the same time, and even then its spray and pray.

In crysis 2 if your good enough you can salvage victory from defeat.
