The game is not entirely a console port, what it is is the product of simultaneous multiplatform development, in which the focus was largely on consoles (that's where the majority of the money is). As a result, assets seem to have been tailored toward consoles for performance reasons, and apparently the UI on the menu screen was rushed for PCs. Generally a port is when the game is developed and coded for a specific platform, and than at a later time completely converted to run on another. That was not the case for this game, it would've been much more expensive for Crytek to do that.
Anyway, rather than retyping previous rants, I'll now just link to them:
Prime example BF3. If it comes out as touted, the PC version will have a larger better looking version. We will have larger maps, player count etc. The consoles, due to either their limitations or limitations in FB2, have smaller maps and player counts. Design for each and it will sell better everywhere.
