Turns out the game is still fun, regardless of the graphics settings or DX11 support. So why is everyone butthurt about it?
The game sux.

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

I usually rage at this sort of thing but c'mon. you can barely notice the difference.

The graphics in C2 look much better to me, but imagine how much better they would look if they used textures with the same resolution as in C1?

I'm actually expecting that when the DX11 patch is released, we'll see improved textures, too. Apparently Dragon Age 2's high resolution texture pack that was released, is really only noticed with DX11.

What if the same goes for C2? What if they intend to release DX11, and textures will improve? Or, they release DX11 + higher resolution textures.

That's what I'm hoping for.

Ok, Here is my opinion on this whole thing, One the first page, yes a difference is very noticable. But playing at 1920x1080 i must be honest, the game looks fantastic and i could not care about the 1/2 sized Textures. The game itself runs waay smoother and so much better for something i would not really notice so i say the performance gain is worth the trade off on the textures. What i would like to see though is a texture pack available for those that have powerful systems and want the best from it. that i think would be very much the right thing to do Crytek.

u good sir, r actually not seeing the whole picture...c1 and c warhead gave me anywhere near 40-50 fps max with all settings very high and 8xaa...but c2 gives lesser fps while looking not as gud...and even if some of u r experiencing gud fps and smoother gameplay, then thats bcoz the draw distance in c2 is highly reduced when compared to c1 and the open endedness is gone...textures r low res and no dx10 still, let alone dx11....and not to mention lower polygon count on most objects...so all these lowered settings will obviously lead to an improved fps and gameplay..so its not like the engine has been drastically optimized..........but ya overall the post processing has been improved to give the illusion of a better looking game but in reality its nothing like c1....and the smoothness is no advantage as u could get smoother fps/gameplay in c1 also by lowering setting a bit(mainly texture resolution and object quality which r already reduced in c2).......

I think somewhere on steam a HD crysis 2 texture patch was released. But then again its a disappointment that this was a console port to ze pc.

AN update was released but it was far from a high texture update/patch. They are focusing on security and functionality issues atm, esp trying to shut up the MP group that cannot seem to go play the campaign while the MP issues are being resolved. Some patches were for SP issues, but mainly things relating to immediate functionality were patched with 1.2

I think that it is obvious Crytek failed terribly. They failed to deliver on multiple promises concerning this game and as a result, the pc version sucks really bad. In my opinion the only thing I like in this game was the soundtrack. Everything is so small in scale with dumber AI than C1.
