Hard to decide on new Graphics card

Thread Starter
I will be building a new comp and I am wondering which video card I should purchase. I currently have a 4870X2.

I have been looking at reviews for the NVidia's GTX 590, 580, and AMD's 6970 and 6990. I am currently in favor of a GTX 580 or 6970 in SLI/Xfire.

I have a 30 in monitor and run at 2560x1600 resolution. I play Age of Conan most often, and some SC2.

Anyone running AOC have any of these cards? If so, what kind of performance are you getting at 2560x1600 resolution?

Thanks

actually you can find that GIGABYTE 5870 2GB EYEFINITY only cost you about $200, if you can find this card, go get two and you'll be satisfied with it.

To stick with your original post question and cards your looking into without suggesting things you didn't ask for, I will say the following:

If you don't care about the money. The most performance is going to be the GTX 580's SLI.

However the AMD 6970's Crossfire are great cards too and either solution will rip through games easily and your higher resolution.

Don't let either camp sway you, it's your choice, both are great options. Look at what means more to you and go with it. What your asking to do is esay for both set ups.

Naturally I own a GTX 580 but I would have been just as happy with AMD 6970 as well. For me it was performance over price.

6970 CF imo. Cheaper and in some cases beats 580 SLI + more Vram.
