utorrent and TheWeatherChannel connects, browsers and msn does not, help? - Page 4

Call your ISP, ask for the DNS servers you should be using, and manually set up your internet connection on your machine.

Alternatively, you could see if the DNS on your machine is different than the DNS used on your mom's rig.

ipconfig /all

Also, make sure you've flushed the DNS from your router and obtained the new one from the new ISP. This should happen automatically, but occasionally it doesn't

2 Ideas.

Assign your DNS servers manually. I prefer Google's public DNS.
8.8.8.8 for Primary
8.8.4.4 for Secondary

Open a cmd window and at the prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes.

The fact that UDP protocols such as Bit torrent are working mean you indeed have a connection. It sounds like TCP traffic may be blocked or is being rerouted if the DNS recommendations above don't correct anything.

I think you've narrowed it down to an issue with just your PC. Since safe mode works fine, it's either a strange networking setting, or a virus. I'd lean towards virus, since safe mode should carry over most of the network settings that would do this...

You'll probably save time by just reinstalling windows lol. It should work then .

Ill make sure to check both our DNS addresses (or whatever it is, I really have no idea)
