MSI R5770 Hawk

Thread Starter
Ok...I can get this card for $90 used. Unregistered and owner is willing to get me the invoice so I can register it for full 3-year warranty.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127490

The question here is this. Should I do it and Crossfire with current Sapphire card or should I save my money for a single card that will perform as good as the pair?

LINK FIXED!

Since when do msi cards need to be registered? I thought they went off of serial numbers?

In accordance with original manufacturer's products serial number/barcode, graphics card products manufactured from Jan. 01 2010, are warranted for three years. Please find date code example here.

* For products manufactured prior to Jan. 01, 2010, please refer policy here

* Customers need to provide purchase invoices and finish product registration for renewing the warranty starting date.

I could be misreading it too...I dunno...I just like to register everything to be safe

Either way....what's the verdict?????????????????

Oh, I see. This card was bought before that time period then?

And to answer your original question, the msi hawk is an awesome card. 2 of them in crossfire gives pretty good performance even these days. It's really up to you. Just remember crossfire is going to run hotter than a single card.

MSI system product registration is voluntary; failure to register will not diminish your limited warranty rights. However, MSI strongly suggest our customers to register your system products for faster support/warranty service.

and op i would go for the crossfire i had a pair of xfx 5770s a while back and they were great not to amazingly hot either plus the bump in performance is well worth the 90 bucks imo

Heat, I'm not really worried about with all the air moving around in my system. I've got two 140mm fans blowing directly on GPU now and it never sees above 58ºC. That area is pretty free of anything, no other slots are being filled...you think I'll still have an issue with heat?

SORRY-----wrong link....I'll fix it

It's fixed and it's actually an R5770 Hawk with two fans

Well, your temps might not be that worse, but you will get more noise. When the top card gets hotter, the fan will ramp up higher.

Noise??? OMG Behemoth, you have no idea how freakin loud this thing is when I'm gaming. Through fan controller, all fans at 100%, my wife can hear it OUTSIDE on the porch...LMAO....I just have headphones turned up so noise doesn't bother me. Thanks for looking out though
