[VRZone] AMD Radeon HD 6790 Specifications Revealed - Page 5

So is this going to use the 68xx SP's or the 69xx? Curious if it is the vliw5 or vliw4. I am at work on my phone, don't have time to read the article.

IDK.. I thought mine's 15% slower?

I think it's safest to have just 1 card but the risks are up to you xD

We'll get used to it xD

May I please find graphs? Just so I can facepalm and cry about it more.. I felt really stupid getting a 5870 for 200 bucks.. Didn't know 6950s can be had around the same price..

I'd love to see these hurtful graphs xD

why?
they should have called it a 6830 instead of 6790.
6790 sounds...wrong imo.

cant wait to see how much it will rape the GTX550Ti

AMD is obviously trying to get rid of the xx30... Just doesn't sound good.

xx90 is a highend part for a particular segment, and in this case, this card is the ultimate DX11 budget card. There weren't any other options, this was the best case scenario.

I've always been the same in that regard.

Don't forsee that happening... Disabling anything more than what the 6950 has would be too crippling on VLIW4, considering the cards that are still on the market.

Now if the HD6870 still had an SIMD or 2 left, that would be sweet, HD6890 anyone? But not happening...

Do HD 6800 and HD 6900 series have different shader architectures?

I thought they were similar, only that the HD 6900 series came with increased shader count and extra TMUs and ROPs.

So I've got a single 5770 right now, and seeing as how this 6790 is coming out soon I'm assuming the 5770 is going to see a pretty nice price drop, and I wouldn't mind getting another one for CF. But if the 6790 is going to be around $130 it'd almost be worth it just to get one of those if the performance increase is nice. I wonder if I'd be able to CF the 6790s in the future with my 650W power supply, or would I need a bit more?

Guess I should probably wait until there's some more stats on the 6790 until I make a decision.
