4GB or 8GB modules? Confused

I ordered 4 x 4GB of Corsair Vengeance, and that's what I was told I got, and that's what I still think I got after seeing 16GB in the BIOS. Before I closed up the case though, I took a bunch of pics and find this one confusing. Notice how it says "8GB (2x4GB)" on it (and the item number has 8G in it too). Is that some kind of internal parity kind of thing? Where all memory chips actually have double what they're claiming but only use the second half of the capacity for parity checking? If not, then what's the deal? I didn't accidentally get given 32GB did I (and only due to some jumper on the board am I seeing only half of it?).

First a close-up pic of the label, then the larger pic.

So you guys are thinking that although I have 4 modules (see the second pic), it maybe that they're sold as "8GB kits consisting of two 4GB modules" and they simply put that label on to show that? Hmmm. Bit weird. I can imagine that being on the packaging, but on each module itself, it's only a 4GB module (if the BIOS is to be believed, but possibly an 8GB module if the label is to be believed).

Well, you guys were right. It's just the way they're sold as an 8GB kit.

This is normal for Corsair. They bundle other kits together to make larger kits, its no big deal and they will work perfectly fine as they are. Its just corsair cutting down on costs.

If I've got 32GB by mistake though, I want to know about it so I can go back to the shop and give them the extra money (and a bonus for being so nice).
This is exactly it.

it is a 8Gb Kit (2x4Gb) so as you have two of them you get 2 x 2 x 4 = 16!

Nice one!!

They also don't look like Corsair Vengeance RAMs either. It even says XMS3 on them, so i think that is what they are.

You're right, I hadn't noticed. I simply ordered "16GB of 1600MHz DDR3 Corsair" memory. I thought they only had one type (Vengeance) but now I see they have more. I don't know why they bother making multiple types, or if Vengeance is better. There's not much in it with the price. I just took a look at the site I had build it for me, and they don't have Vengeance in stock anyway. It was likely this or wait weeks.

Dude a lot of manufacturers do this.Kingston has modules that have 1gb in the number but they are only 512mb modules. You have 4gb modules.

Even gskill says 4gbpk on their 2gb modules.

Yep! 4GB's. Besides, it's better that you got those in stead of the Vengeance ones, otherwise they won't fit with that cooler you've got on. =) My Hyper212+ barely goes over my Vengeance RAM.
