New pc build, need advice..

Thread Starter
Getting ready to build a new budget pc for gaming and for graphic.

My build ->

Case: Antec 300
Mb: M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T(Black Edition)
HDD: SEAGATE, 250GB, Barracuda 7200rpm
RAM: Kingston, 4GB (2x2Gb), 1333Mhz, DDR3, HYPERX
Video Card:XFX, HD6850
Cooler: Zalman, CNPS10X EXTREME
Disk drive: SONY, OPTI 5260S, DVDRW, 24X
PSU: CORSAIR, PSU 600W, 12CM, ATX12V2.2 80+

Also, 600w Corsair psu will be enough for my build or not?
If possible, I'd change the HDD to a Samsung Spinpoint F4 320GB as it's a much faster drive then the one you have listed.

Also the PSU you picked isn't a top quality one. I'd go with the Antec Truepower TP-650 instead. And the Zalman cooler would not be on my list as well, overpriced. The Coolermaster Hyper 212+ would probably cool equally well and it's much cheaper.

And 600w is more then enough, your system will probably draw around 300w.

Everything said here ^^

Plus switch the case to this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147153

The Antec 300 (my last case) is a good beginner case, but the lack of cable management holes/space, the smallish size (HDD space fills and interferes with MB/GPU) and the grey interior will get to you eventually.

Furthermore, the Gigabyte (vanilla) 6850 is THE 6850 choice in terms of overclocking ability and temps. The Gigabyte 6850 OC version has weak VRM's whereas the vanilla version will allow voltage reg. and 1ghz+ core for 6870 performance at very low temps. REALLY try and get this card, I have it and its wonderful (mine hits 1030mhz @ ~1.25v)

I agreed about you only needing a 450-500w psu, and always suggest confirming it against approved ones in the psu forum.

I have a cooler master hyper and I personally prefer the zalman. I have a zalman on my amd 1055t server and am very impressed by it. More so than the h50 Im selling or the cm hyper on my cad system. Something about the zalman gets the heat out of the case and away from the motherboard better than any other cooler I've tried. For me, if it's not a full water loop, it's going to be zalman.

Otherwise your build is pretty awesome. Until I started using my x6 as a server & am folding on it 24/7, I felt like it was yawning...

Correct me if im wrong ! But a spinpoint F4 is a 5400rpm drive and the baracuda is 7200rpm? I would say stick with the faster rpm drive ,or get a spinpoint F3 7200rpm or a Western DIgital -blue or black ( both 7200rpm)!

Just my opinion!!!

I like the Case suggestion and CPU+Mobo Combo there but the 550 ti is a fail for gaming. It performs in between a Radeon 4870 and a GTX 260 c216.
A 6850 is way better for it's price point.

A better CPU cooler for $30 Shipped is the Xigmatek SD1283

looking at this its a little slower then GTX 460 1GB and a little faster then HD 5770/GTS 450 , also the 130$ price after rebate and dont forget u get CUDA for photoshop and physx for gaming , not bad at all
