2560x1440 as middle monitor.

Thread Starter
So I have 3 LG IPS226V(1920x1080) monitors and they look amazing. I love Eyefinity on them. However I have many games that do not support triple monitor gaming, and I would like to play those at a higher resolution.

Instead of spending $2,300 and getting 2 1920x1200 and 1 2560x1600. I found out they make 2560x1440(16:9) which would let it fit into my eyefinity setup.

This would let me do 2560x1440 on single monitor games like Mass Effect and do 5760x1080 on multi-monitor games like Dragon Age 2.

So my question is which 2560x1440 monitors do you guys recommend?
My LG are IPS with LED backlighting, so I don't want a difference that will be distracting.

Apple Cinema Display hands down.

Doesn't the Glossy coat make the picture look off in games though?

Not one bit, if you have a chance to try one out do it, I love mine with a PASSION . Looks amazing during gaming. Around the office we have tons of ACD's and the 27" Dell IPS, almost everyone in the office would prefer the ACD to the dell.

What about cables? My current GPU has DVI, HDMI, and Displayport only. Do they have a Female Mini DP to male DP adapter?

I see Altona makes a HDMI to Mini DP converter for $279.

You will end up getting the u2711. Don't put up a fight.

Edit: The ACD will look more vibrant(possibly even over saturated) than the Dell u2711 because the ACD is glossy and the u2711 has an antiglare cover to match your other monitors. That is the one main difference between the Dell and the apple. Other than that, the Dell has much more inputs.

You need it to be a very specific vertical size, or have the same pixel pitch as your other monitors. If your other monitors are 10" tall, and in 1080 tall the middle monitor is 12", it will look like hell.

edit: just realized, you aren't running it at native resolution in either horizontal or vertical. LCD monitors look like ass when you run them at non-naive resolution. Try running a lower resolution on one of your current screens and blowing it up to fill it..

Another vote for the Dell 2711 here.

I would also vote for the 2711 from a gaming standpoint and solidarity to your other monitors.
