I would have run 1.375v 24/7, if it werent for the temp limiting further overclocking.

never heard v1.357 24/7 on a gpu, isnt approx 1.1 the safe volt? but hey, what do i know about gpu overclocking, im am a bit of a noob...i just want excellent stock performance. well......maybe a little bit of OC that doesnt involve changing voltage, lol

thanks for the input guys, been away from ocn for a while due to work...did a bit more digging as regard to the 2 cards i was considering buying, think im gonna go with the 570 dc2, i have enough space for 3slot cooling, even when it comes to sli. the vram issue does worry me, but since i wont be doing any crazy overclocking, i should be ok? also i have fairly good airflow in my case so not that bothered about cooler dumping heat into the system, and i doubt it will dump anywhere near as much heat as my 470...god i wish the heating system in my flat is as good as my 470!

That being said, I'd get the 570 if I were you, I love mine, rocks most games. Can't be too courageous with the OC, unless you're ok with an RMA if you burn out a VRM.

Plus, you get physx and it's cool/quiet. I can't say how the 6950 is in comparison, as I've never had one, or used one personally.
It's a 3 slot, looking at Asus' website. http://my.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID...zVe&templete=2

Do note that with the 570's, a stock one puts out most of the heat out the back of the case, while the directCU will vent a good bit inside the case.

I'm happy with my overclock (I have a reference model), some people get them to 900 core, but with a reference card 850 is an easy OC and comfortable for me. doesn't get too hot, and isn't that loud. I like it.
The OP said he has plenty of room for triple slot cards, even SLi and CrossfireX.

He was replying to a person with the DCII version of the card, so cooling and VRMs shouldn't be a problem.

does only some non-reference 570s like the dcii have trouble free vrams? or in general the newer 570s dont have the vram problem anymore?

Non-reference 570s will most likely be free from the VRM problems.

If your monitor is 1920x1080p and your not planning on running more than two monitors or greater resolution on a new one then more than 1GB is not irrelevant except to flash the bios on the AMD 6950 to 6970. Otherwise there is no performance gains on your resolution. If you do want to do the bios flash make sure it's the 2GB reference version not the 1GB version since it dosen't flash to 6970.

The GTX 570 compares very closely to a AMD 6970 trailing closely behind in most benchmarks and wins in others with the AMD 6970 edging out in front of it over all. The GTX 570 is about 15% less performance than a GTX 580 at about 70% of the cost. Pretty good price per performance ratio as well.

I feel the Asus GTX 570 Direct CU II ($350) can overclock with no voltage tweaks better performance than an Asus AMD 6950 Direct CU II ($325) flashed to 6970. The cost savings on the AMD 6950 will be $25 however and get comparable performance.
