I second the motion with TSM106 'not' over voltage to 1.375v, unless your wanting to cook hamburger patties off it.

Otherwise there is no performance gains on your resolution. If you do want to do the bios flash make sure it's the 2GB reference version not the 1GB version since it dosen't flash to 6970.

The GTX 570 compares very closely to a AMD 6970 trailing closely behind in most benchmarks and wins in others with the AMD 6970 edging out in front of it over all. The GTX 570 is about 15% less performance than a GTX 580 at about 70% of the cost. Pretty good price per performance ratio as well.

I feel the Asus GTX 570 Direct CU II ($350) can overclock with no voltage tweaks better performance than an Asus AMD 6950 Direct CU II ($325) flashed to 6970. The cost savings on the AMD 6950 will be $25 however and get comparable performance.

thanks for the rather detailed help, really appreciate it! +1 rep

regarding monitors, i did have a dual setup before, but mainly for productivity reasons, never played games across multiple screens, and most likely wont for a long long time. at the moment i game at 1680x1050, but i am however looking to upgrade my monitor to at least 1920x1080, then start gaming at full hd.

the 570 dcii it is, i'd say. like you said, the difference between 1 or 2 gigs on 1 monitor doesnt seem that much, judging from the review links you game me. plus i could really use the cuda cores nvidia offers for my work, i use a fair bit of pro engineer and abaqus, and i think they benefit from cuda
