Also, do you have to take the mobo off with this fan?
Yes, there is a backplate that needs to be attached to the rear of the CPU socket. You'll need to take the mobo out.

The 212 should do you nicely.

The case I have is an HAF 912 and when you take the side cover plate off you can see the back of the mobo socket with about a 4in x 4in window there would that be good enough or would i still have to take the mobo off completely.

also the base of the 212+ isnt very smooth or flat
use a credit card to fill in the gaps with the included heatsink compund
then put a 1/2 pea sized dot on the cpu when installing

the haf case has more than enough room to work with the backplate

1156 and 1155 do, but they're different than 1366. Fortunately almost all after-market coolers include brackets for both, though.

Yeah, I just looked it up. The review here shows a nice big window. You will not need to take the mobo out since you have access to the socket.

Sorry about the confusion, I wasn't too familiar with the 912.

Well, that makes me feel better, do you have a guide of how to properlly install the 212 cooler? I want to make sure I do it right this time.
